About

I didn't grow up drawing or dreaming of a creative career - I started in nursing, switched to organic chemistry, and finally landed on design. Each change taught me something useful about what I did (and didn't) want. A non-traditional design background has its own kind of value. Different paths lead to different perspectives.

I've been freelancing since graduating college, sometimes alongside agency work, sometimes not. Now, I focus on partnering with design agencies and select clients who appreciate both creative thinking and clear communication. While I genuinely love what I do, I believe our best work often comes from our full life experiences, not just our professional ones.

While I may call this a studio, it's just me – and that's how I like it. I'm drawn to the quiet details, those subtle moments that make an experience memorable. My approach is equal parts precision and play, bringing both technical expertise and creative curiosity to each project.

Studio Herbert began in 2016 after changing my college major for the second time - not exactly the romantic origin story you might expect, but an honest one. Design wasn't on my radar back then, but I felt myself drawn to how it merged creativity with purpose, turning abstract ideas into tangible solutions. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with clients who trust me to bring their ideas to life, whether through emails or websites. Each project is an opportunity to create something both purposful and beautiful, finding that sweet spot between what works and what resonates – creating work that feels both considered and genuine. My goal is to make work worth looking twice at, where every detail tells a story worth sharing.

I'm an email and website designer who names my plants after characters from my favorite books
